Cycling Australia from the coach… Neil Ross The Cycling Australia team began the year in a big way at the 2009 National MTB Championships which were held at Mt. Stromlo, Canberra. The team came away from the weekend with four National titles and swept the U23 Men’s podium. Our new National Mountain Bike Cross-Country Champions are Rowena Fry (Elite Women), Lachlan Norris (U23 Men) and Gracie Elvin (U23 Women). I wasn’t feeling nervous at all on Friday and not too much either on Saturday before the race. I had a good warm up and it was a perfect day. I managed to score number 44, the first Aussie on the grid! I was in the first box of riders to be called up, sitting on the 4th row. I was feeling good! The atmosphere was awesome, with the UCI official calling up the riders and giving the crowd a good rev up, and to really amp us up there were tribal dancers close by with loud drums (Jumanji style).… View Post
