The second road stage of the tour was much less stressful than the first with better weather and a flat and less technical course. We had to complete 8 laps of 14km that started and finished in the town of Nijlen. Kirsten Wild took another bunch sprint victory but we also had a good day just relaxing in the peloton and our youngest rider Nettie claiming 3rd in the finish. You couldn’t be mistaken for what country you were in today at the start of Stage 2 of the Lotto Belisol Tour. It was grey, cool, windy and gusts of rain were stinging our faces as if to warn us of the crazy race ahead. We covered 9 laps of a 12.2km course starting and finishing in the town of Angreau in the Wollonie region of Belgium. We began our tour in Belgium the hard way (not that there is really an easy way in cycling) with a teams time trial. We were to cover 19.75km in a point-to-point course that was unsurprisingly more technical than our race program suggested.
